![]() ![]() ![]() Their son had stolen jewelry from a group of Gypsies three days prior, and since then, has been complaining of seeing and hearing things not of this earth. Or why not even go the Evil Deadroute and basically turn the sequel to Drag Me To Hell into a more comedy-friendly remake of the original? Hopefully it won’t take a curse being placed on Sam Raimi to get him to change his mind.In Pasadena, California in 1969, a young Mexican couple rushes to the home of medium Shaun San Dena (Flor de Maria Chahua). Maybe Justin Long can convince Raimi why a sequel that revolves around his character trying to bring back his girlfriend is a more than satisfactory angle for a sequel. That being said, Christine may meet a grisly end in the film, but her partner, Clay ( Justin Long), is still very much around. This, of course, doesn’t mean that a sequel to Drag Me to Hell will never happen, but Raimi seems pretty resolved on his decision at this point. Over a decade has passed since the film’s release, and Raimi still hasn’t heard a pitch for a story that’s good enough for a sequel that doesn’t cheapen the original movie’s ending. Christine’s damnation to hell hits hard, but it’s because this conclusion is so definitive that Raimi doesn’t think another chapter is necessary. One of the things that Raimi loved the most about returning to a smaller budget film like Drag Me to Hell is that he had complete creative control (unlike in the Spider-Manmovies), which meant he could end the film on its extreme downer ending. It certainly sounds like there would be an audience for a Drag Me to Hell 2, but the major roadblock for the sequel appears to be Sam Raimi himself. Raimi Views Drag Me To Hell’s Ending As A Definitive Conclusion Sometimes directors remain silent on such future possibilities, but Raimi has actually opened up regarding the future of Drag Me to Hell. With Raimi being so open to sequel possibilities to his films, some fans have been left puzzled over why a follow-up to Drag Me to Hell hasn’t happened, especially when critics loved the movie and fans have been demanding a sequel. Evil Dead has gone on to become its own franchise, he directed a whole trilogy of Spider-Man films, and even movies of his, like Darkman, received a bunch of sequels, even if he wasn’t responsible for them. However, something interesting about this director is that he’s not at all opposed to tackling sequels to his films. Raimi is responsible for a lot of important films, both in the horror genre and outside of it. Christine has three days to fix this situation or she’ll be sent away to hell. The horror film’s story looks at a loan officer, Christine (Alison Lohman), who chooses to not extend a loan to the wrong person and winds up with a terrible curse placed on her. Sam Raimi has proven himself to be a master of horror, but with his most recent venture in the genre, 2009’s Drag Me to Hell, being considered one of his best movies many have wondered why a sequel has never happened.ĭrag Me to Hell goes back to Sam Raimi’s roots and it’s not surprising to learn that Drag Me to Hell was originally conceived over a decade before it actually went into production. ![]()

There’s this theory that you need to scream at people to get them to work their hardest. My first big job, Little House on the Prairie, had Michael Landon as the director, actor, producer – and sometimes writer. “I had a very fortunate first experience. I can get them to speed up or slow down or trick them by being more emotional.” Finally, he clarifies forcefully and winningly, he’s not a control freak at all. “I don’t have to have any sort of creative negotiation with that actor.” Then he slides into the territory of the self-aware control freak: “Especially when I’m the lead character, I can just adjust my own performance to motivate a different performance out of the other actor. “It’s more efficient for me to be playing a character in something, because that’s one less person I need to direct,” he says. He starts off describing the appeal of being an actor/director quite neutrally. Typically (although not this time, because of Covid) Bateman would direct the first two episodes of each season. The smart thing to do is to turn yourself in. “Sometimes that narrows your options as a writer, trying to keep things plausible. “Marty and Wendy are really intelligent characters,” Bateman says. But all that nuance was a double-edged sword. What passed between them gave such propulsive energy to their characters that from the very beginning you could trust one thing: it might be improbable, but it was never going to be boring. They hated each other, except they didn’t. ![]() What was haunting about it from the start were the subtle performances of Bateman and his co-star, Laura Linney just a regular, affluent, middle-aged couple, except he was about to launder $500m for a drug cartel and she’d just watched the murder of the lawyer she was having an affair with. Tense and lingering, Ozark has the dizzying pace and visual sumptuousness that the modern long-running box set demands. But today we’re here to talk about Ozark, a drama with a reputation that has been climbing each season (it’s now in its fourth and final) and so has, arguably, become even more defining for Bateman. To fans of the show, its entire cast will always have traces clinging to them, as if they have all been, well, arrested in that dysfunctional family. It’s as if Michael Bluth, the character he played in Arrested Development, had dressed up as a therapist for some hilarious purpose.
